This paper describes the student participation design in the project “Agile learning in distance learning”, which is part of a master’s module in educational science at a distance learning university. Agility is seen here as the key to a new learning which, in contrast to reproductive, teacher-centred methods, pursues a flexible, self-directed and student-centred approach. Learning processes are iterative and jointly evaluated, and decisions are made collaboratively, which fosaters a high level of adaptability and the development of future-relevant skills. Social interactions strengthen the learners' willingness to take responsibility and develop a shared teaching/learning culture.
