Differential stimulation of deep learning strategies through assessment?

Does the general deep learning approach influence the differential perception of assessment demands and the preparational use of learning strategies in different formats? For the present study, 59 university students completed a written test and a take-home essay. Learning approaches, assessment demands and specific test preparation strategies were then assessed via questionnaires. The data show differences between the written test and essay concerning test demands and preparation strategies, as well as correlations between these and the deep learning approach. The deep approach, however, did not influence the differential stimulation of deep strategies’ use for the essay in comparison to the written test.
