Transformative learning between sense and meaning A Critical Clarification of Structure and Process

The article defines transformative learning as the formation and reformation of horizons of sense beyond semantic transcodings. In comparing the theory of transformative learning with the theory of transformational educational processes, it becomes clear that transformation in transformative learning engages sense at a deep structural level, whereas the theory of educational processes is primarily directed toward meanings. This distinction needs to be taken into account in higher education.
