Contemporary teaching skills development

Higher education is facing major challenges: digitization, expansion of education, and the demand for high-quality, scientifically sound teaching that is also relevant to the job market call for new approaches. To generate solutions, n = 9 video interviews were conducted with subject matter experts in the DACH region on the topics of peer feedback, individual teaching competence development, higher education didactics, and technological support in teaching. The interviews suggest that teaching competence encompasses not only knowledge, but also the ability to reflect and continuously develop. In addition to formal continuing education, informal learning pathways, networks, and peer coaching are gaining in importance.
