This article presents group dynamic experiential settings as a form of transformative learning and explains why it is important for learning about democracy at university. The importance of democratic education is once again in the spotlight. Group dynamic learning formats are well-founded, socially practical approaches that encourage reflection on social learning, self-enlightenment, systems thinking, participation and engagement with authority, thus enabling a learning process that goes beyond the mere transfer of knowledge. The article describes the connections between t-group learning and democracy and argues for the expansion of group dynamic approaches in higher education considering current societal challenges.
