Institutionalizing transformative learning "fuTUre skills" as an impetus for a new understanding of education

The department of Biology of Technische Universität Darmstadt initiated a process that structurally anchors transformative learning in the curriculum, starting with the pilot course fuTUre skills. This article shows how the collaboratively designed reflection format for personality and competence development led to curricular integration and provided impetus for a new teaching culture. The focus is not on the course itself, but on the resulting institutional change toward an educational practice that understands personal development, values and responsibility as integral components of academic education and enables structural change.
