Organizational units dedicated to university teaching have become widely established at German-speaking colleges and universities. However, it is apparent that the ambitions formulated at the beginning of German-language university teaching at the end of the 1960s have now often been reduced to offering continuing education courses in university teaching. This raises questions about the significance of university teaching for teaching reform and academic education as its guiding principle.
