Excellent performance? Study culture at universities

The article encourages reflecting the prospects for professionalization, institutional framework conditions, challenges, and opportunities at universities with respect to exceptional performance. It explores the assessment of the study- and learning-culture by students and teachers, and the extent to which it is perceived as conducive to excellence. The article commences by delineating the prevailing conceptions of excellence in selected models of giftedness and talent development. To elucidate the specific culture of excellence, a questionnaire on the teaching and learning culture at universities was translated and piloted for the German-speaking area.
