Universities have the responsibility to effectively prepare students to solve complex problems and challenges in transdisciplinary teams. This paper discusses the potential of Behaviorally Anchored Rating Scales (BARS) for measuring and promoting collaboration in higher education. Through an iterative process, ten behaviorally anchored scales were developed. These scales were evaluated with the involvement of various expert groups (researchers, teachers, students). The results suggest that the behavioral anchors are generally representative and easy to understand. Additionally, potential applications of BARS in the higher education context are outlined.
