Artificial intelligence (AI) offers great potential for teachers. Teacher training has an important role to play in teaching a sensible and responsible approach to AI. As a basis for the further development of university teaching, a questionnaire-based study was conducted among 238 students in the field of vocational education at a university of teacher education. The questionnaire investigated how the students perceive the use of AI in their studies and the level of acceptance among those who are already working in schools with regard to AI and teaching. The students show a high level of interest but also uncertainty in dealing with AI. Teachers have a positive attitude towards AI and mainly use it to prepare lessons.
