Off-campus learning: The Sustainability Challenge as a contributor to education for sustainable development

Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), which contributes to efforts to meet the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), requires innovative learning environments. The Sustainability Challenge module is a proposed flexible format for service learning outside the university. Scholarship of Teaching and Learning provides a systematic overview of students‘ learning experiences and the specifics of off-campus learning. The results show how the Sustainability Challenge can contribute to ESD.
