To prepare Vocational Education and Training students for a career world with complex and unknown requirements, learning environments and learning processes are needed to promote the sustainable acquisition of future skills. These circumstances require a courageous attitude from educators, as well as appropriate higher education didactics. The SAJP model (acronym: Sabine Albert, Jure Purgaj) offers five designs for generating environments that enable learning. This article also describes the learning processes and illustrates them with examples. Personal interest in the subject area and individualized learning strategies foster self-directed learning environment design, ownership over the learning journey, and the ability to adapt agilely in the professional world.
