The integration of innovative educational technologies into higher education teaching is continuously transforming the way teaching and learning is done. One promising option here is Mixed Reality (MR) in combination with Head-Mounted Displays (HMDs). Using the example of a course with MR, effects of this medium in higher education teaching are investigated. Due to the focus on learning processes, the study is conducted in teacher training, so that the participants themselves have a profound knowledge of learning and cognitive psychological processes. Based on this, a development perspective for the reflected use in higher education is given.
