On the (im)possibility of student participation: Understandings and areas of tension in the university experience
Main Article Content
This paper focuses on participation in higher education studies, taking into account organisational and sociocultural conditions. Firstly, it highlights empirical gaps and paradoxes by examining areas of tension in the discourse on participation, polycontextual participation possibilities, and students' experiences as participants. Secondly, it sheds light on the interweaving of everyday life challenges and organisational challenges, especially during transitions in higher education. Both lines of argumentation ultimately lead to a focus on various "problems" with participation, with the aim of stimulating educational reflection and transfer into teaching practice.
