As part of digital transformation, e-exams are being introduced in higher education to make the examination process more efficient. The social practices of teaching, learning and examining is changing, which also influences the use of e-exams. This paper uses a socio-technical systems perspective to analyse the changes in the actors’ landscapes and the interplay between examination regimes and examination culture in the introduction of e-exams. The results demonstrate clearly that there is an increased need for research on this topic.
